Description

Adds a Skeleton component and skeleton loading states for Section: placeholders shaped like the content they replace, with a highlight sweeping across them.

  • Skeleton wraps the content it stands in for. Text becomes a fully rounded, cap-height bar on the text's baseline, as wide as the text and held to one line. An element becomes a block the size of that element, hidden underneath. shape (rounded, pill, square) maps to the theme's radius tokens, visible={false} keeps the space without drawing a placeholder, and width / height size a skeleton with no children. Content keeps its place in the layout, so the swap to loaded content doesn't shift anything.
  • Section.Group skeleton shows every Skeleton inside it and makes the card inert and hidden from assistive technology. Outside a container a Skeleton shows by default, and show overrides either.
  • The shimmer is CSS only: a highlight one bone wide sweeps left to right over 1.6s ease-in-out, and stops under prefers-reduced-motion.
  • UserProfileActiveDevicesSectionView takes skeleton, wraps its title, icons, names and descriptions in Skeleton, and hides its row actions with visible={false}. A status message announces both "Loading active devices" and "Active devices loaded". UserProfileActiveDevicesSectionSkeleton renders the view with placeholder devices. When and how long to show a skeleton is left to the panels' wiring.
  • The avatar's loading placeholder and the backup codes placeholder use the same shimmer, and --cl-ease-pulse is removed.
  • Section.Content drops its 2px row gap, and the security icon media goes to the standard lg size, so items are 40px media beside 40px of text.
  • Swingset section stories stretch to the frame's width, since a Section.Group size container has no intrinsic width. New Skeleton page, Loading stories on Section and Active devices, and a skeletons guide in packages/mosaic/docs.

📝 Walkthrough

Mosaic adds shared skeleton styles and wave timing, skeleton modes for Panel.Title and Section parts, and loading placeholders for avatar fallbacks, backup codes, and active devices. The changes also add loading stories and documentation. Swingset applies full-width styling to story content when the story category is Sections.

let me know if we feel like some of these magic numbers should move into the theme tokens.

I could see duration and dip being something that gets customized, but unsure how much someone might deviate from this implementation for customization 🤔

lets leave this for now. can extract later if needed, but they feel isolated to this component.

I guess a good customization test at some point is can we replicate the horizontal wave/pulse animations we use in the dashboard

was surprised not to see a skeleton component. so each new feature needs to implement very similar components composing the skeletons classes?

💭 would be good to have a skill reference file for skeleton building.

yea kinda depends how rich or simple we want them. could always keep them relatively rich and just have a skeleton component with different variants. ie value-list | media-list | rows | table | profile something like that. I'm open to whatever here, just kinda leaned away from being opinionated on the abstraction to start

💭 would be good to have a skill reference file for skeleton building.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Keep skeleton groups hidden after merging caller props.

When skeleton is enabled and the caller passes aria-hidden={false}, rest overwrites the group's aria-hidden: true. Assistive technology can then expose the skeleton group.

## When to show it

Not decided by the skeleton. The wiring around a panel owns it. The planned gate is
`useSpinDelay(loading, { delay: 150, minDuration: 500 })` with the skeleton mounted
but `visibility: hidden` until the delay passes, so a fast load never flashes it and
nothing shifts when it appears.
